Poor Airflow? Signs it’s Time for an AC Repair

Is your home not feeling as cool as it should during the dog days of summer? It is easy to ignore your AC unit until it decides to stop working!

There are a variety of reasons for poor (or zero) airflow, and here are just a few of the signs that indicate it is time for an air conditioner repair before the problem gets worse!

Weak or Non-Existent Airflow

Are you not feeling air coming from your vents? If the airflow is weak or non-existent, this should be a cause for concern. Interrupted airflow suggests a circulation problem within your AC unit, meaning the air cannot travel throughout your home and cool your space

This could be something as simple as a blockage and your vents need to be cleaned or something more serious such as a faulty blower motor. Regardless, it is time for an AC unit repair!

Inconsistent Temperatures Throughout Your Home

If certain rooms in your home feel warmer or cooler than one another, this is a sign of uneven airflow. First, check to make sure the vents in rooms are open so air is able to enter the room.

Leaky ductwork or a dirty air filter may also be the culprit behind your AC troubles. If inconsistent temperatures have been an ongoing issue, it’s possible that it is a bigger problem that needs more attention and AC repair services.

Low Refrigerant Levels

Over time, refrigerant levels in your AC unit will decrease due to use or because of a leak. When refrigerant levels get too low, this causes the evaporator coil to freeze up, which can ultimately lead to weak airflow into your home.

Having depleted refrigerant in the middle of summer may seem like an emergency AC repair, so be sure to be proactive and schedule a maintenance check before the hottest days hit to avoid potential emergencies.

Undersized AC Unit

Have you recently added a new room to your home? Or perhaps you converted an attic space into a livable area? If so, you may want to consult with a specialist that completes AC repair in Philadelphia

You may not realize it, but AC units and ductwork do have a capacity – and adding more space to your home may require a bigger AC unit. If left as is, you may experience poor airflow as the unit tries to work harder to push air into more space. Overworking your AC unit will lead to needing a replacement sooner rather than later, too!
